Snow Canyon with Distinction

The photo above shows one of the techniques we are going to use in this workshop.

We begin with a good quality piece of white fabric and you will dye the background to create the sky.
The mountains are assembled using a theme fabric.... (in fact this fabric is actually a group of big old tree trunks) but any textured fabric such as Batik will do.

The mountains are textured with "Texture Magic"

Then to finish the quilt.

It looks quite simple, and realistically you could leave it like this... but the beauty of this quilt is the texture achieved with the quilting.
It tells the story.

With my help, you will create you own illustrations for the quilting...

I used the photos I took when I was in St George.

I will have this pattern available for you, but it would be great if you could create one of your own...

The Quilting is the key. I looked for fabric that had movement similar to the texture in the rocks... It needed to be horizontal and this is the one I chose for the back.... it became the guide for the quilting.
How is it done.....well, I that's what you will learn in class.

If you have a picture in mind bring it but I will have a pattern for you to use if you wish.
